Good Work Network - Contractor Collaborative

Contractor collaborative

Contractors Capacity Building Program

The Contractor Collaborative formed to more efficiently meet the needs of small minority contractors that want to build their capacity.

The mission of the Good Work Network is to expand the local economy by building minority and women owned businesses.   It envisions a community where the economy is diverse and inclusive and where all dedicated and competent entrepreneurs have access to the resources they need to succeed.  Good Work Network has established a program to build the capacity of small minority contractors.

The program will include the following components:

  • Technical Assistance: One-on-one technical assistance and counseling is available to clients in areas such as business plan writing, registration and licensing, legal and tax startup issues, design of record keeping and accounting systems, loan packaging, marketing strategy development, marketing material design, etc

  • Group Classes:  Training workshops will be hosted by the Collaborative to assist contractors with needs we have identified such as estimating, bidding, certified payroll, etc.

  • Capital Assistance: The Collaborative has committed over $100,000 that we hope to leverage with other community funds in order to help contractors access working capital, general liability and workman’s compensation.

  • Bid Assistance: Blueprints and spec books are accessible through the Collaborative in addition to help putting together and reviewing final bids.

Certifications: To facilitate the DBE certification, the Collaborative is working with contractors to guide them through the application process.
