Entrepreneurship Institute Training

(10 Part Series)

CLASSES ARE SCHEDULED FOR
5:30pm to 8:30pm
Each Monday and Thursday
(Class will meet 2 times per week)
From May 24th to July 29th 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Fee: $60 for 10 part series


Participants will learn:
Personal Effectiveness Training
This section focuses on the personal qualities and behaviors that are key to the success of your business. Topics discussed are: building self-esteem and confidence, goal setting, time management, anger management, and communication skills.

Economic Literacy Training
This section focuses and teaches you financial tools that are key to your
personal life as well as the success of your business. There is a Free Credit Counseling attached with this course. Topics discussed are: understanding wealth, credit, banking, budgeting and taxes.

Core Four Entrepreneurial Training
This section teaches the four core bodies of knowledge that a business owner must have in order to operate a successful business. Topics discussed are:
success planning, market planning, cash flow planning, and operations planning.
A business plan will be written during this section of the course.


Scholarships MAY BE available for eligible participants. To be eligible, you must have children under the age of 18 and are considered low-income. If you meet these eligibility requirements you must submit the following documents to prove your eligibility:

§ Birth Certificates for all children under age 18
§ Children must reside in your home (documentation may be required to prove)
§ Louisiana Driver’s License or State ID
§ A letter stating you receive some form of government assistance: Food Stamps, Medicaid, LA Chips, Free/Reduced School Lunch, WIC, (only one need to be submitted) OR
§ Two current check stubs or current years tax return (only if you do not receive government assistance)

and taxes. We will also review marketing and promotion strategies. Our financial
section will discuss start up expenses, fixed expenses and revenue projections.
We will also go into detail on finding sources of capital for you business. Our
goal is that you will complete your business plan during this class. Business
plan writing labs (Independent and Assisted) will be available to members
enrolled in this class.

If your credit score is less than 700, there is something in this course that
you can use. There are many similarities between understand your personal
finances and understanding your business finances. By learning the basics of
your personal finances and budgeting first, you will be more prepared later when
setting up the bookkeeping for your business. One on one credit counseling is
available to all members.

Before you begin to develop your business idea, it is important to review basic skills that will help you be more successful. These are business concepts that everyone should know, whether they work for someone else or if they start their own business. This section will also explore how to determine the difference between a business opportunity and a business idea. This course allow you to start asking the tough questions now – about your product or service, about your potential customers, about the money or other resources you’ll need to get your business going. Sometimes this is called a feasibility study. But, actually, it should be called “good common sense.”
