The Good Work Network Entrepreneurship Institute offers courses, seminars, and training workshops to help entrepreneurs build fundamental business skills and increase their business knowledge. New Member Orientation
New Member Orientation is a two-hour session designed to inform members about the services and programs available to help them achieve business success, as well as increase their understanding of the barriers facing minority and women entrepreneurs. Members learn about key issues such as systemic racism and sexism, income inequality, and economic equity, and gain a better understanding of how these issues may impact their entrepreneurial journey. We also review upcoming programming and provide tips and tools to aide members in their next steps. New Member Orientation is free of charge and is offered once per quarter.
Pre-Venture Concept Development Course
Pre-Venture Concept Development is a 5-week course for entrepreneurs who are in the early stages of planning or launching their business. During this course, students focus on turning their ideas into well-planned business concepts that will generate revenue. Topics covered include products and services, value proposition, target market, market research, start-up and operational costs, and pricing strategy. A 1-hour one-on-one Technical Assistance session is included with enrollment. Students will leave the class with a written business model and a 12-month work plan to guide their next steps. This course is offered once per quarter and meets once a week from 5:30pm to 8:00 pm. Please check our program calendar for upcoming dates and registration information.
NxLevel Business Plan Course
NxLevel Business Plan Course is a 10-week course for entrepreneurs who are in operation and generating revenue with their businesses. This course aims to help with planning for business growth and developing a written business plan that can be used for loan applications or to present to potential investors. Topics covered include legal structure, organizational structure, market research, marketing strategy, financial planning, financing and capital access, management, and growth strategy. A 1-hour one-on-one Technical Assistance session is included with enrollment. Students will leave the class with a written business plan and a 12-month work plan to guide their next steps. This course is offered twice a year and meets once a week from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. SEBD certification is required to take this course. QuickBooks for Beginners
QuickBooks for Beginners is an 8-hour seminar to introduce students to the QuickBooks software. The first half of the course focuses on basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping systems that all business owners should understand. During the second half of the seminar students learn the functions and features of the QuickBooks software and practice making entries and running reports. The course includes 8 hours of group instruction, 2 hours of one-on-one Technical Assistance, and a copy of the software. SEBD certification is required to take this course. Industry-Specific and Advanced Training
The Entrepreneurship Institute offers a selection of industry-specific and advanced training workshops throughout the year. Good Work Network collaborates with experts in a variety of fields to provide specialized workshops in specific subject areas such a business taxes, government contracting, social media marketing, and many others. Please check our program calendar for upcoming specialized training workshops.
One-on-one technical assistance and counseling is available to eligible members in areas such as business plan development, capital assistance, startup issues, design of record keeping and accounting systems, loan packaging, marketing strategy development and marketing material design. To receive one-on-one technical assistance services, members must meet certain eligibility requirements. Eligibility and service options are discussed during the Initial Phone Consultation following submission of the online membership application.
- You could be eligible to receive Technical Assistance if you are operating your business on a full-time basis and/or your business is the primary source of income for your household.
- If your business is not yet in operation, you could be eligible for Technical Assistance if you have a fully-developed business concept and a written business model or business plan. The Good Work Network Entrepreneurship Institute offers the Pre-Venture Concept Development Course to assist in developing your business concept and creating a business model.
** We are not currently accepting new members for Technical Assistance services, however our Entrepreneurship Institute offers courses and training workshops year-round. Please check our calendar for a list of our upcoming classes.

Good Work Network provides technical assistance and training to aspiring entrepreneurs and to small business owners. Depending on the stage of your venture and your business background, we tailor services to develop your capacity and to address any business challenges you may be facing.
