Account Manager

Summary of Position

Good Work Network (GWN) was founded in 2001 to help minority and women-owned businesses start, grow, and succeed through targeted coaching, technical assistance, and training. Since its inception, GWN has provided business development services to a client base that is 86% minority, 67% female, and 65% low-income. Among our services is Shared Solutions, providing bookkeeping and accounting and financial statement analysis for small businesses.

The Account Manager performs high level accounting functions for small nonprofit and for profit entities that engage Shared Solutions on a fee for service basis.

Reports to: Director of Accounting & Finance

Start Date: Immediately; Full-time exempt

Duties & Responsibilities

  Recruiting and onboarding new clients
 Assisting clients with setting up and maintaining recordkeeping systems that are appropriate to their operations
 Working with clients to implement procedures that result in greater efficiency
 Working with clients to assure that the Chart of Accounts and Financial Statement presentations meet management, board and third party users’ needs
 Entering adjusting entries and other non-cash transactions monthly
 Performing verification of Balance Sheet balances monthly
 Reviewing comparative Profit and Loss statements monthly
 Maintaining general ledger and related subsidiary ledgers of clients
 Preparing the financial statements for clients
 Preparing the financial portion of grant reports for clients and ensuring this information is properly reflected in the accounting system
 Assisting clients with preparation of the annual budgets
 Monitoring budget to actual data for client and individual grant programs of clients
 Instruct basic and intermediate level accounting trainings for clients
 Performing other duties assigned by the Executive Director and Director of Accounting and Finance in accordance with the policies and procedures and the mission of Good Work Network
 All duties are subject to be modified or other duties added as needed by the Director of Accounting & Finance


 Undergraduate degree in accounting and three years’ experience with public accounting firm (or equivalent), CPA preferred
 Excellent accounting skills
 Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accrual accounting
 Sound understanding of tax issues
 Knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel
 Good communication skills
 Ability to work in a team environment
 Must be professional, friendly, and courteous
 Culturally competent with an ability to work with people of diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds
 A passion for helping small businesses grow
 Demonstrated ability to be flexible and respectful
 Solutions-oriented thinker
 Ability to drive a vehicle and must have proof of insurance and good driving record
