Roux Carré Artist Workshop Series

Good Work Network in partnership with Ashe’ Cultural Arts Center has created this artist development program to help artists better understand their respective businesses. The following document outlines the flow of the series and perks associated with completing the program.  Fill out the registration form in advance to enter the program. This Artists Workshop Series would not be possible without the generous support of the Surdna Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the New Orleans Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy.. Overview

Roux Carré Artists Workshop Series is four workshops that result in an immediate impact to your art, music, visual or performing arts business, from your brand to Tools to an Electronic Press Kit.  We offer a number of perks based on workshop completion (completion includes accepted outcomes).

Workshops*

Brand U – From Artistic Genius to Dynamic Brand

A Brand is everything associated with your company – your Art, Music, Visual or Performing Arts, all of the attributes, both tangible and intangible. It’s your logo, your expression, the services that you deliver, your name, all of that and more.  It’s what you stand for, what you do, what you say.  Your brand is your beacon.  In this workshop we will crystallize your brand, identify your competitive position and your target customers.  Participants will launch the strategic process to build a communicable brand platform.

Takeaway: All participants will leave the workshop with a 10-sec, 30 sec and  2 minute statement on who you are, and your unique value in a way that attracts a following.

Ignite! Social Media – Communicate, Sell and Thrive via Social Media

Your Social Media Channels are the ways to promote your brand, your ideas, and your products. Once they are lit, you have to keep them on fire in order to generate more fans, more market share and more revenue. Participants will create, activate and launch a social media platform using their Art, Music, Visual or Performing Arts.

Takeaway:  All participants will leave the workshop with social media accounts set up and knowledge on how to use certain social media tools.

Living the Brand – Building Relationships, Trust and Circles  

Every interaction at every touch point is an opportunity to advance, strengthen or dilute your brand. Participants will launch social media campaigns, interact with their community of fans and build Circles—an  amplified group of believers and supporters  Engage with your followers, let them know you, what you do, and where you will be, so they can support you and your art.

Takeaway: All participants will learn how to begin to engage with your audiences using social media tools; watch your fan base grow over time.

My Digital Footprint- An Electronic Press Kit Paves the Way

Building your brand’s voice via Social Media will build trust and relationships. To open more doors your brand must be ready to present your Art, Music, Visual or Performing Arts in the most effective manner possible. The Electronic Press Kit (EPK) is a digital vehicle that will present your brand in the best light possible. Participants will generate a multi-content electronic press kit that will help to bolster their business.  PrerequisiteMust have written content (see Brand U workshop) and high quality photos and/or videos to upload.**

Takeaway: All participants will leave the workshop with a complete EPK.

Trainer

Laura B. Tennyson, of Lura Belle Productions, is an innovative marketing strategist.  Terrence Blanchard, WWOZ 90.7, Irvin Mayfield, Xavier University, New Orleans Public Library and Preservation Hall Jazz Band have been some of her clients.  Her experience in marketing and branding has led to collaborations with the New Orleans African American Museum of Art, Essence Music Festival, Royal Sonesta Hotels and Blue Note Records.  Prior to establishment of her own company, Laura was Director of Marketing at the House of Blues New Orleans.

Perks

Artists with completed assignments for each workshop or who can show accepted outcomes will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform on the Roux Carré stage or exhibit their art; includes a stipend
  • Have your merchandise sold at the Ashe’ Merchandise Kiosk, managed by our partner, Ashe’ Cultural Arts Center, on day of performance
  • Chance to win two Southwest airline tickets to anywhere in the U.S

Register
